The Griffin provides the utmost in versatility, and been called by many "the dream amp". It features 3 channels : Clean, dirty, and dirtier, or "1,2,3"
Channel 1 boasts beautiful clean, sparkly tones reminiscent of something somewhere between a Bandmaster and D-style cleans. This channel does not have a Master Volume, so it's balance with Channels 2 + 3 is easily set with the single volume control. Also available as a push-pull on the Volume knob is a powerful clean boost that bypasses the tone stack a bit, as well as boosts mids.
Channel 2 is the first OD channel but is also capable of thick, warm cleans, as a contrast to the cleans in channel 1. Everything from American tweed to early British crunch is avaible here, with some unique features. This channel has both "Lo Gain" and "High Gain" controls. This refers to the frequency ranges each one controls. This channel runs parallel input stages, similar to an "internally jumpered" plexi. The "High Gain" side is the standard plexi input, and the "Low Gain" side is the bassier one. Now you can blend both sides together to dial in the amount of top end, as well as bottom end fullness. With the High Gain on 8 and the Lo Gain on 4, you're in classic crunch heaven. It shares with Channel 3 a wonderful Master Volume that sounds fantastic down to whisper levels. Also available to this channel are the Mid shift, and Boost switches, to further tailor your sound.
Channel 3 is the second OD channel, that looses the "Lo Gain" control, and adds a gain stage to the "High Gain" side of things. This channel is engaged via the "HR"(Hotrod) switch. This is the high gain channel, reminiscent of my high gain mods, and similar to the voicing of the JRS 50 and Plexus high gain sounds. This channel suits a wide variety of high gain sounds, from Classic Rock solos to Metal, and everything in between. The feel is superb, neither too loose or too tight. It's just right, and incredibly fun to play.
The Mid Shift and Boost switches also are avaialble to this channel as well the HR Voice, which is unique to this channel. This switch adds even more focused gain, making this amp more like a "3+" channel switcher.
All switching between the 3 channels is accessible via a 2 button footswitch, as well as the front panel of the amp.
